The championship has three phases

Supercars’ 2026 explanation retains the Sprint Cup, Enduro Cup and Finals Series. These phases do not all use an identical race length or driver arrangement. The endurance phase pairs drivers for long-distance contests, while shorter events have their own published formats.

A round and a race are different units. One meeting can contain several races, so a headline saying a driver won the weekend does not itself establish every race classification or the complete points change.

A full race field remains on track

Supercars states that the complete field continues racing during the Finals. A driver outside the title-contending group can still win a race and influence the contest. Finals elimination is not the same as that car being removed from all remaining races.

For a hypothetical example, a non-Finalist could finish ahead of every title contender in a race. That race win does not automatically make the driver the season champion. Race classification and championship eligibility are separate records.

The Finals contain staged title contests

The 2026 Finals page identifies Gold Coast as the Elimination Final, Sandown as the Semi Final and Adelaide as the Grand Final. Use the current points and eligibility for each phase rather than treating the entire season as one unchanged cumulative table.

An end-of-race graphic can therefore show both the complete finishing order and the ranking of the remaining championship contenders. Neither should be relabelled as the other. The series’ official standings give the applicable title positions.

The Grand Final bonus changed for 2026

Supercars’ January 2026 notice brings the Grand Final bonus scale into line with the preceding Finals rounds. The published leading allocations are 150, 120, 96 and 78, replacing the smaller 2025 Grand Final scale.

A hypothetical leading seed with a thirty-point bonus advantage still has to race. The bonus is a starting advantage, not a completed title award. A calculation copied from the smaller 2025 final scale can produce the wrong 2026 gap before a lap is run.

Eliminated drivers return to a different points basis

The same notice says eliminated Finals drivers revert to their post-Bathurst points plus subsequent race points, rather than retaining the Finals reset and bonus totals. This keeps the contest for the lower championship positions open.

Do not add a reseeded total and the original total together. Identify the driver’s current status and the applicable basis, then use official points. This guide explains the 2026 structure without predicting the finale, advertising past race times as upcoming or importing NASCAR’s different Chase rules.
