Inspect the group’s intended metadata
Channels describes new videos inheriting genres, labels and categories from their Video Group. Compare those group properties with the archive’s purpose. A group containing several projects should not automatically carry a label that belongs to only one of them.
Use one non-sensitive rehearsal clip if another import is needed. State the expected label in advance, import it through the ordinary route and inspect the result. This original comparison tests the maintenance layer without renaming or moving the whole archive.
Correct the ownership rule
Decide whether the metadata belongs at group level or should describe individual clips. Preserve a note of the group’s intended policy so the next import does not recreate the confusion. Revisit an older item and the new sample after any deliberate correction.
This article does not report a Channels import. It provides a way to identify why repeated metadata appears without treating every inherited value as a separate file defect.
Questions answered
Does inheritance prove the video contains that label internally?
No. The group can supply library metadata during import.
