Confirm the work you actually have
Inspect the authorized file and identify its title, year and edition where relevant. Keep a distinguishable path in your private notes. A poster can be confidently wrong, so do not use its presence as proof that the library identified the file correctly.
Use the narrow match control
Channels documents Fix Incorrect Match in the server library, including a search when the suggested choices are unsuitable. Choose the actual work rather than the first familiar image. This changes the identification task; it is not a reason to delete the media source or replace the underlying file.
For an original comparison, check a remake and an earlier work with similar titles. Confirm a recognizable cast or production detail against your authorized copy before accepting the new match. Do not publish private file paths to ask for help.
Review the resulting entry
Inspect title, year and representative metadata, then open the same file from that entry. Keep identity correction separate from playback compatibility: a correct match does not prove that a client can decode the media.
No match or playback was tested here. The completion criterion is one correctly identified library entry whose underlying file remains known.
Questions answered
Should I delete the source to fix one poster?
Start with the documented item-level match control.
Does correct artwork prove the file plays?
