Recognize the dated account change
Criterion’s current FAQ says Criterion.com and CriterionChannel.com accounts gained linked single sign-on on 24 September 2026 when the email addresses match. That is a reason to reassess older instructions telling every viewer that the two logins are unrelated. It is not a reason to assume that a disc purchase started a streaming subscription. Begin by identifying the two actual account contexts and the email address used privately for each. Keep the date of the guidance with your note because account migrations make undated setup advice particularly easy to misread.
Check identity before changing the payment arrangement
A household may have used one email address for disc purchases and another for streaming. The FAQ’s same-email condition makes that distinction worth checking before assuming single sign-on should work in exactly the same way for everyone. Do not create another account or change either email merely to test a theory without reading the genuine account instructions. Keep an original receipt available so the intended streaming account remains identifiable. If assistance is needed, describe the account contexts through Criterion’s official support and mask private addresses in any public screenshot. Authentication evidence should not expose passwords or complete billing records.
Use the streaming record for entitlement
Criterion explicitly states that billing between the sites is not shared. Confirm the Channel subscription in its appropriate account record rather than treating a successful store login or a disc order as proof of streaming access. A hypothetical collector who can browse a purchased Blu-ray’s page has demonstrated access to the shop, not an active subscription to the film’s stream. Also verify that the actual film is currently on the Channel. Criterion says not every Collection release is available there, so a missing title and a missing subscription are different questions even when they concern the same work.
Keep the migration result narrow
After checking, record whether the intended login succeeded, whether the streaming subscription is active and whether the chosen film is currently offered in the permitted service territory. Do not merge those into one vague success or failure. If login works but entitlement is absent, ask about the streaming record. If the subscription is valid but a particular film is absent, check catalogue availability. If an available film fails after Play, retain the actual device and error for technical support. That small sequence makes use of the new shared-login arrangement while preserving the separate product and catalogue checks the migration did not remove.
