The selected mode moves the task
Formuler’s audio guide says RAW passes the original sound to compatible audio equipment and instructs users to control volume with that equipment’s remote. A box volume button having no expected effect can therefore reflect the configured route.
Identify the receiver or soundbar that actually plays the sound. A television image does not establish which device decodes the soundtrack or owns the useful volume control.
Confirm the receiver’s capability
Check the receiving equipment’s supported formats before selecting RAW. Keep Auto as the documented starting comparison where appropriate. A listed box option does not guarantee the downstream decoder can handle every source.
Play a short familiar passage at moderate level and test receiver volume up, down and mute. Keep app and TV processing fixed during the comparison.
Keep remote control separate from media decoding
If the receiver’s own remote works but the integrated remote does not, investigate the command path rather than the soundtrack. A working audio decoder and a configured volume command are separate achievements.
Report the Formuler model, mode, connection order and volume target. This explains the manufacturer’s passthrough behavior without claiming a hands-on test of every receiver or codec.
Questions answered
Why might Formuler volume not affect RAW output?
Formuler directs volume control to the downstream audio device in that arrangement.
Does RAW guarantee the receiver can decode everything?
No. Its documented format support still matters.
