Check the remote, then the box
Google’s Find My Remote feature requires a paired Google TV Streamer Voice Remote. Google TV Streamer has a button on its back that can trigger the chime. Chromecast with Google TV uses the documented assistant or Google Home app route instead.
The remote and streaming device have separate identities. Owning a Chromecast does not give it the Streamer’s rear hardware button, while using a compatible paired remote can make the software finding route relevant.
Trigger a bounded search
For Streamer, briefly press the rear button as Google instructs. The remote sounds for 30 seconds and any remote button stops it when found. For Chromecast, follow the assistant or Home app procedure for the correct television.
In a multi-room home, confirm the selected device before starting the chime. A familiar room name is a practical way to prevent searching for the wrong remote.
Keep finding separate from pairing
If the remote is not paired or cannot produce the expected result, consult the pairing guidance for that product. Repeating a finding trigger is not a substitute for establishing the remote-device relationship.
Once recovered, check ordinary navigation and keep a usable alternate control route available. This guide explains the supported trigger distinction without promising that every Google-branded remote has a speaker or the same feature.
