Confirm the guide is present but attached incorrectly
A missing XMLTV import and a loaded guide attached to the wrong channel are different conditions. For this task, inspect whether other entries from the same guide show programmes and whether the selected item’s schedule belongs to another station. Keep the source channel identity clear before changing its guide association.
Choose one representative channel and a programme whose correct source identity is known. Do not rely only on a logo; regional variants and similarly named feeds can share branding. Record the current programme and expected station privately so the comparison has a specific target.
Use the documented per-channel mapping action
On desktop, right-click the channel, choose Map EPG channel, search the loaded guide and Save mapping. Inspect the result’s identity before selecting. A familiar station name can still refer to a regional variant.
If no suitable result appears, verify that the intended guide finished importing and actually covers the station. A mapping action cannot manufacture a schedule absent from that guide. Keep the media URI unchanged while comparing the guide association, so the test does not become a simultaneous source replacement.
Check identity before applying a time correction
After saving, inspect the channel’s current and next programme. If they now belong to the intended station but the whole guide is displaced in time, treat that as a separate timing question. If the wrong station remains, a global time offset is not the appropriate next step.
For an original check, compare a distinctive programme title and its following programme against the same station’s authorized schedule. Two adjacent entries are more informative than a single common news label. Preserve the old mapping value if you may need to undo an experimental choice.
Understand the persistence of the change
Manual mappings survive refreshes; Remove mapping returns to automatic matching. A later refresh leaving the choice in place is therefore different from an import that ignored your change. Retain the reason for the override with the setup notes.
If the source owner subsequently corrects its identifiers, decide whether to remove the override and test automatic matching again. Keep that change deliberate and compare the same item. The expected result is one correct guide association, not a claim that a loaded schedule establishes media access or archive availability.
Questions answered
What is a useful check after saving one mapping?
Compare two distinctive adjacent programmes for the same intended station. A common news title alone is a weak identity check.
Should I shift the guide time when the station itself is wrong?
First correct the channel identity. Moving times does not turn another station’s schedule into the intended one.
