Just Player after playback: review the selected end action first

Check skip-next and file-deletion choices on a disposable sample before using automatic post-playback actions.

Restart without deleting your account

Decide what should happen at the end

The developer lists next-file and delete end actions. Decide which result is intended before using either. Use a short disposable clip, and define success in plain language: continuing to a second sample is a different outcome from removing the first sample. Preserve any valued originals while checking the selected behavior.

Use a disposable video you created for testing and keep any valued originals protected. Do not assess a deletion behavior against a unique recording. Also identify whether the player receives a local file, a storage-provider reference or another app’s handoff, because source access and modification permissions may differ.

Inspect the current action and source context

Open the installed version’s settings and inspect the available post-playback choice before starting the sample. Record its exact wording and initial state. Follow the current project documentation for the feature rather than assuming another Android player uses the same control.

If the intended action is next-item playback, create a small, unmistakable sequence and confirm the next item is actually accessible. A menu offering a next action does not prove a source application supplied a useful sequence. Keep the original source route and item order in the test notes.

Let the sample reach its natural end

Play the test sample to completion and observe the actual end behavior. Pressing Back or forcing the app closed is a different event and may not exercise the same action. Check whether the expected next item opens or whether the disposable source file remains present through the source application’s own file view.

If a delete operation is unavailable or fails, preserve the source type and permission state. Do not grant broad filesystem rights merely to make an optional automatic action succeed. Playback access and permission to remove a source are separate capabilities, and a read-only arrangement can be intentional.

Return to the desired everyday behavior

After the test, set the intended ordinary action and verify it on another disposable sample if the setting changed. Keep a note for other users of the device, particularly if automatic removal is enabled. A future missing file may otherwise be misdiagnosed as failed indexing or storage corruption.

The expected outcome is a deliberate end-of-playback rule with a known scope. This procedure does not promise a universal deletion result for every Android storage provider, undo a removed original or establish that remote source owners permit modification. Keep irreversible file operations separate from routine playback diagnosis.

Questions answered

Is skip-next the same action as deleting a finished file?

No. They have different consequences. Inspect the actual selected post-playback action and use disposable media for a test.

Why might playback work while deletion does not?

Reading and deleting a source require different access. A file provider or permission arrangement can allow playback without permitting removal.
