Identify the requested deliverable
An mpv EDL can describe a virtual timeline assembled from source ranges. It does not contain those source videos. If someone asks for a finished clip they can upload or open in an arbitrary player, an EDL alone does not fulfil that request.
List the dependencies before sharing
Record the source files, their usable paths and the mpv version used for the sequence. Confirm permission to share the media itself. A tiny instruction file can still refer to private or restricted material, so inspect the manifest before sending it.
Ask the practical handover question in your own review: does the receiver have the right files and the intended player workflow? If the answer is uncertain, a virtual sequence should not be labelled a self-contained master.
Choose export as a separate task
When portable audiovisual output is required, use a suitable documented editor or encoder and verify the produced file separately. Retain the EDL as review instructions if useful, but distinguish its segment decisions from the encoding, audio and compatibility checks of the exported deliverable.
Questions answered
Can an EDL play after its referenced sources are removed?
It depends on the source media; keep those files and usable paths available.
