Choose one job you repeat
Google’s Streamer Voice Remote has a customizable star button. Its documented roles are opening the Google Home panel, launching a favourite TV app or displaying device inputs. Choose the job that saves an actual repeated action in your room.
If the household mainly watches one app, a direct launch may be useful. If it frequently moves between an external player and a console, inputs may be the more useful choice. A shortcut should reduce uncertainty rather than add another button whose behavior nobody remembers.
Create and check the assignment
Press the star button and follow the appropriate on-screen setup. For an app shortcut, select the intended installed app. For device inputs, choose or add the correct display device and complete Google’s confirmation that the button worked.
Test from the normal seat with the same equipment powered as during ordinary use. Opening the app is the success condition for an app shortcut; selecting the intended input is the success condition for an input shortcut. Neither action proves that a programme account is signed in.
Keep the editing path available
Google documents a short hold of the button to edit many assignments. An existing input-control assignment has a separate settings route: All settings, Remotes and Accessories, Set up remote buttons, Customizable button. Keep that route in mind if the button operates the television instead of opening an editor.
An input-control action can depend on the physical command path to the display. Follow Google’s instruction to avoid a barrier between the remote and display when configuring it. This is separate from the remote’s navigation of the streaming device.
Explain the household choice
After setup, tell the other viewer exactly what the star does. Test Back or Home to leave the result and confirm that the shortcut does not strand them on an unfamiliar screen.
If the selected app is removed or the TV changes, revisit the assignment. A stored shortcut is an instruction for the local equipment; it is not a permanent compatibility promise.
