ABC US: plan a web episode after the app retirement

Use ABC’s dated app-retirement notice to choose the US network’s browser, provider or local-news route.

A logo is identity evidence

Identify the US network

ABC
ABC here means the US television network, distinct from Australia’s ABC iview. The app-retirement notice concerns this US service.

Check which ABC the instruction means

This guide concerns the US television network ABC. It is separate from Australia’s ABC iview and from other broadcasters using the same initials. ABC’s published notice says its mobile and Connected-TV app stopped being available on 23 September 2024. An older installation guide for that app should therefore not be your starting point.

Use the network’s readable retirement notice as transition evidence, then inspect the current destination for the programme you want. The notice is dated August 2024; it does not promise that every episode named in it remains available today or that US offers apply in Europe.

Choose the task before the destination

A local newscast, a national episode and a live network schedule are different viewing objects. Keep the actual programme or station with the plan so a similar logo does not send you to the wrong destination.

Viewing taskRoute named in ABC’s noticeWhat to inspect now
A particular episodeABC.com programme/episode listingExact season, episode and its access label.
The current network streamABC.com Live and participating-provider flowWhether the offered stream is available to the account and location.
News from a local ABC stationThe station’s local-news destinationActual affiliate and bulletin, rather than the national network app.

Use the offered provider flow deliberately

For a locked episode or network stream, the notice describes selecting the item, choosing or searching for a participating TV provider and signing in through that provider. Check the actual offered list. An internet connection supplied by a company is not itself proof that its television package includes the required network access.

Before subscribing somewhere else, identify the account that owns any existing television benefit. Keep that provider arrangement separate from a Hulu or other service offer shown alongside it. The notice’s references to other services do not establish one interchangeable account or an automatic transfer from the retired app.

Replace the saved shortcut with a precise reference

Save the current programme page, season and episode rather than a defunct app-store instruction. If you need captions or a particular edition, inspect that episode’s controls and description before arranging a shared viewing time. A show’s brand page is less precise than the exact item.

If access fails, distinguish an absent episode, a provider not offered in the sign-in list and a video that begins but stops. Record the current destination and exact message. No ABC account or playback was tested; this is a transition and selection method grounded in the publisher’s dated notice.
