Fetch TV: box generations, recording and account routes

Choose a Fetch box around recording and app support, distinguish subscription layers, and check retail or broadband-provider Multiroom rules.

Identify the box and the organisation supplying it

Fetch combines television reception, streamed channels, on-demand stores and applications on dedicated boxes. The first useful detail is the exact model and generation, followed by whether it came from Fetch retail or a broadband-provider partner. Two boxes carrying the Fetch name can have materially different recording and application capabilities.

The current comparison shows recording on Mighty models and no recording on Mini models. Choose around the task: a Mini can suit another television, while creating and retaining recordings requires a compatible Mighty. Do not interpret a shared recording appearing on a Mini as evidence that the Mini itself contains a recorder.

Separate Fetch access, packs and third-party applications

Fetch’s current offer distinguishes its core Access subscription from optional Content Packs. It also has movie rentals and purchases, television-store purchases and separately supplied streaming applications. An application appearing in the interface does not establish that the associated Netflix, Stan or other subscription is included in the Fetch price.

List the channels and applications you actually need, then check each inclusion and account route against the chosen offer. Fetch’s current Content Pack page also limits some offerings by provider. Compare the whole ongoing arrangement rather than treating a broad channel count as proof that one particular channel or service is available.

Check current generation notices before keeping an old box

Fetch has published specific 2026 service notices for Mini Gen 3 and Mighty Gen 3 devices. These describe changing third-party application compatibility, with different effects on the two models. The current device comparison is the useful starting point for a particular application; older general feature lists may not reflect those changes.

The notices also distinguish continued Fetch service support from third-party app support, and describe a Netflix billing transition from 1 November 2026. Before replacing equipment or paying to continue an older box, check the current account notice, actual model and apps you rely on. Continued support for Fetch features does not ensure every outside application will remain available.

Verify the Multiroom account before adding another box

Fetch’s retail Multiroom instructions permit linked devices to share eligible packs, store transactions and recordings from a Mighty. They explicitly say retail devices cannot be mixed with broadband-provider devices in that arrangement. If your service came through an internet provider, use that provider’s Multiroom instructions and eligibility.

For supported retail equipment, the published setup starts in account settings under Add & Remove Fetch Box, where an activation code or Fetch ID is obtained. Check that the proposed second box can join the same arrangement before buying it. Give support both model numbers and the supplying provider when investigating a pairing, recording or entitlement problem.

Questions answered

Can a Fetch Mini independently record live television?

No. Fetch’s current model comparison assigns recording to Mighty models; a Mini can access shared recordings in an eligible Multiroom setup.

Can a retail Fetch box always be combined with one supplied by a broadband provider?

No. Fetch’s retail Multiroom instructions explicitly say those device supply routes cannot be mixed.
