Choose the app for the intended child and programme
KiKA’s current parent information describes a free, advertisement-free main app for videos, series, films, live television and selected offline use. It allows parents to organise individual profiles with age-related selections and usage times. The broadcaster also directs preschool viewers to the separate Kikaninchen offer.
Begin with the programme and the child’s appropriate experience rather than assuming every KiKA-branded icon has the same catalogue or navigation. A family can encounter different menus on the main website, the KiKA application and Kikaninchen. Keep that distinction when following instructions for a missing video or parental setting.
Live restart is different from an episode download
The main app’s current description includes a live television stream with the ability to move back up to two hours and inspect the day’s schedule. It also says the live stream can be enabled or disabled for an individual profile in the parent area. A missing live option can therefore involve the profile setup rather than the broadcaster being off air.
Use a separately offered programme episode when you need an on-demand item instead of navigating the moving live window. Restarting a running channel should not be treated as creating a permanent recording. Check which mode is playing before assuming an episode’s end or position has changed unexpectedly.
Do not transfer preschool download rules to every app
Kikaninchen’s own FAQ explains its offline-video area and says rights expiry can remove a saved programme. It also describes a parent option to show worldwide-playable offline selections, and a Wi-Fi-only setting that affects whether the save button appears. These are instructions for that specific preschool application.
For travel, inspect the exact app’s current controls, completed saved video and availability. A missing save button can result from the selected connection preference, while insufficient storage is a different issue. A downloaded children’s programme should not be assumed to override its rights or location conditions.
Find the offered accessible edition
The broadcaster’s app dossier describes discovery routes for versions with audio description or sign language. Those are selected versions of programmes, not interchangeable labels for ordinary subtitles. Search for the required edition rather than assuming the standard video will automatically expose every alternative.
When asking for assistance, state the programme, application, selected profile and the control involved. Keep a parent-area restriction separate from a playback interruption after a video starts. This makes the question actionable without circulating a child’s account details or treating a broad service announcement as proof that every programme includes the same features.
Questions answered
Can the live stream be disabled for one KiKA profile?
Yes. KiKA’s app information describes a per-profile control in the parent area.
Are the Kikaninchen offline instructions universal KiKA instructions?
No. They describe the separate preschool app; inspect the main app’s own controls for its workflow.
