Read the current plan name and included services

Philo’s March 2026 plan announcement introduced Essential and Bundle+ and identified Bundle+ as the successor to the former Philo Core offer. Current account help also distinguishes Free Channels from paid plans. An old Core tutorial should therefore be read in the context of the current account rather than treated as a separate required purchase.

Inspect the actual plan and included add-ons before accepting a new offer. A free Philo account, a paid channel lineup and activation of another included application are different access states. Keep the current confirmation rather than using an old promotional total as the renewal arrangement.

Choose live, on demand or a recording deliberately

The viewing help distinguishes the running channel, on-demand items marked with their own label and saved recordings. Saving a show or film instructs Philo to record airings from that point, subject to the relevant channel and offer. It is not the same action as selecting an existing on-demand version.

This matters when playback controls differ. The help describes ad-skipping on saved content, which should not be converted into a promise that every on-demand copy is ad-free or has identical seeking controls. Check which version you opened when an expected fast-forward action is unavailable.

Lookback and DVR have different clocks

Philo describes a limited lookback feature for many recently aired programmes alongside its recording library. A lookback item is a temporary replay option, while a saved recording follows its own storage arrangement. A programme still appearing in the guide is not proof that both versions remain playable.

For a future viewing, save eligible upcoming content rather than relying only on a short replay window. Retain the exact programme and airing when comparing an on-demand item with a recording. Neither a series page nor a favourite guarantees indefinite access to every historical episode.

The free recording window is different from the paid one

The Free Channels help describes saving selected content for a shorter period than the paid plans’ advertised DVR arrangement. It also warns that some free channels do not support the same save workflow. Free account registration is therefore useful context, but not evidence that every paid feature or recording period applies.

Check the current plan-specific instructions and the selected channel before reporting a missing recording. Distinguish a free-channel limitation, an expired replay and a paid-plan recognition problem. Provide the programme, airing and account route without sharing credentials; those details identify a more useful question than simply saying a channel disappeared.

Questions answered

Is former Philo Core necessarily a separate new purchase?

No. Philo’s 2026 announcement identifies Bundle+ as the successor name; inspect the actual current account.

Does Free Channels use the same DVR window as every paid plan?

No. Philo publishes different free and paid storage arrangements and selected-channel exceptions.
