Verify one NextPVR recording through the web application

Check a single authorised recording from guide selection through a usable completed file.

A player organises the experience

Begin with a working authorised source

This guide starts after a NextPVR server and its legitimate tuner or other authorised source have been configured. NextPVR is recording software; it does not supply a subscription, channel rights or permission to record a particular programme. Choose a short item you may record and retain the source and server details in your own maintenance notes.

Open the intended server's web application through your established local route. Confirm which machine hosts it; localhost refers to the device on which the browser runs. Record the installed server version and the programme's channel, date and time. Do not expose a server to the internet simply to perform this local acceptance check.

Select one event and verify the pending item

The official web guide documents selecting an event in TV Guide and choosing Record Once. Use that narrow action for the first check rather than creating a series rule that can add many future jobs. Inspect the resulting pending recording and confirm the channel and time against the event you intended.

A scheduled status records a plan, not completed media. Keep the acceptance record explicit: event selected, pending item confirmed, then result after the scheduled period. If the item is absent from the pending view, resolve that scheduling issue before changing video-player settings or assuming a recording exists somewhere on disk.

Check progress and completion at the appropriate time

Use the server's recording and scheduler views to distinguish a pending item, a recording in progress and a completed or failed result. Do not close the review merely because a red scheduled highlight appears in the guide. Confirm the server remains available and that ordinary recording storage has sufficient space for the intended task.

After completion, inspect the result and play the expected beginning, middle and end on the intended client. Those local checks establish more than a completed label alone: the file may need review for missing content, timing or playback limitations. No server or recording was tested for this guide, so it supplies an acceptance method rather than a success claim for any hardware.

Record a failure without broadening the change

If the job fails, preserve the event details, scheduled time, visible failure state and relevant local server evidence. Separate a missing recording from a file that exists but fails in one client. The former concerns the recording chain; the latter may require a different playback investigation. Avoid changing several unrelated settings before capturing the distinction.

Once a single recording has been accepted, decide whether the next task is a recurring schedule or another client review. Keep the sample and notes until that next stage is understood. A successful one-off establishes one narrow local outcome, not guaranteed simultaneous capacity, all-channel access or universal compatibility.

Questions answered

Does a scheduled guide highlight mean the recording file is complete?

No. Confirm the later recording state and inspect the actual result.

Does NextPVR supply permission to record every available source?

No. Use a source and programme you are authorised to record; software scheduling and rights are separate.
