An ARD login on ZDF does not move your watchlist

Use compatible web sign-in while keeping ARD and ZDF lists, recommendations and age checks separate.

A logo is identity evidence

Begin with the list you want to preserve

Before moving between the ARD and ZDF websites, write down which service holds the programmes you saved. A successful sign-in is easy to interpret as a migration, especially when the same email address works on both sites. ARD’s account guidance supports compatible web sign-in with Mein ZDF, but says that personal data such as watchlists, recommendations and viewed contributions are not transferred. The practical consequence is that the next programme may need to be found and saved separately on the other website. Keep the original list open until you have established where each item belongs.

Test identity and continuity as separate results

For a useful check, use one programme already saved in your ARD list and one item saved in Mein ZDF. Sign in through the genuine website route and inspect the relevant personal area. Record two outcomes: whether authentication succeeded and whether the expected item is in that service’s own list. If authentication works but a list differs, do not immediately reset the password. The account can be valid while personalization remains separate. This is also why a family should avoid deleting an original list to tidy up what appears to be a duplicate account; the entries may never have moved.

Keep age confirmation on the appropriate account route

ARD explicitly separates its age confirmation from a ZDF sign-in. A working ZDF login therefore does not prove that an ARD age-restricted programme is ready to play under the intended conditions. Follow ARD’s own account instructions if age confirmation is required, with the account holder handling the private identity information. Do not send an identity-document image to an informal support contact or publish it with a screenshot. In the household note, a simple statement that the relevant account step remains incomplete is enough. It should never contain the document number or a child’s personal details.

Build a small two-service viewing plan

An original planning example could contain four columns: programme, service holding the entry, saved status and intended device. It is a viewing aid rather than a claim that the services share a universal library. Check the actual programme’s availability before the planned evening; saving an item does not establish that it will remain available indefinitely. If the list is visible on the website but missing on a television, report the service, device and signed-in account context as a separate synchronization question. Preserve the distinction between signing in successfully, finding a saved entry and meeting a programme’s access conditions.

Questions answered

Will an ARD watchlist automatically appear in Mein ZDF?

ARD says watchlists, recommendations and viewed items are not transferred through the compatible web sign-in.

Does a ZDF login complete ARD age confirmation?

No. ARD’s account guidance directs viewers to its own age-confirmation route.
