Identify the build and the failed service
Official builds include a TMDB key; self-compiled builds need one supplied. Record where the application came from and whether the failed task is movie playback or descriptive enrichment.
A source that still opens a film but has no added cast information has not demonstrated a content-account failure. Conversely, a valid metadata lookup does not prove the media source can play. Keep these two service results separate from the beginning.
Inspect the metadata control deliberately
Settings, Metadata offers Check key. Inspect the intended arrangement and use the current official documentation when obtaining your own key. Do not copy another person’s secret from a public configuration example.
Keep any key private and label the local record with its owner and intended application. Before changing a field that previously worked, retain a recoverable private copy. A typed value being saved is different from the remote service accepting it.
Test one known descriptive lookup
After the intended key arrangement is accepted, open one unambiguous film or series and compare its provider details with the additional metadata. Keep the app language and source item unchanged. This yields a cleaner result than opening many ambiguous titles while rotating keys.
If validation fails, retain the exact key-check error without the secret value. If validation succeeds but one title has no match, preserve that narrower result. The acceptance of a key and the successful identity match of a particular title answer different questions.
Keep optional lookups an intentional choice
Enrichment is opt-in and sends title lookups to TMDB. Decide whether those additional descriptions are wanted for this setup. Keep that decision distinct from the household’s accepted media source and the application used to play it.
The useful outcome is a known build, an intentional lookup choice and a precise validation or matching result. It does not require sharing the key with the IPTV source owner or assuming a subscription payment can repair an unrelated metadata credential.
