Preserve the recording’s actual state
When a scheduled recording fails, inspect the recorded status and details before deleting the job. A programme marked Missed presents different evidence from one marked Partly recorded. Keep the intended time, channel and device state in a private note while the circumstances are still clear.
Confirm the device clock and the scheduled interval, then identify whether the box was fully on, in standby or powered off. A television screen being dark does not establish what happened to the connected player’s network connection. Keep the screen state and player state separate in the description.
Check standby and network behavior
OTT Navigator’s guide says a device that turns off or enters deep sleep cannot continue or start the recording. It also describes devices that cut networking during standby. Inspect the actual hardware’s energy settings and any warning the app showed at recording start.
Use a short authorized test while leaving the player in a known active state. Then, if needed, compare the intended standby arrangement as a separate test. Do not assume the remote’s power button affects every box the same way. Record whether only the television was switched off or the player itself changed power state.
Inspect scheduled-start permissions and app behavior
The developer documents a Start recordings on time control when Android requires the relevant permission, along with notification and battery-optimization considerations. Check the offered control in the installed build rather than granting unrelated permissions. Keep a note of the before-and-after state.
If the job begins successfully only when the app is left open, preserve that comparison. It points to a different stage from a recording that starts and then loses its media stream. Repeatedly changing the programme’s start time will not establish why the operating system did not launch the intended work.
Use details for partial captures
For a partial recording, open Details and inspect when and why it broke. The developer describes missing stream intervals separately from a missed start. A later reconnection does not prove the earlier material was captured; check the output around the reported gap.
After one controlled correction, schedule another short sample and inspect its completed beginning and ending. Retain the state, setting and result together. The expected outcome is a known first failure stage and a verified short schedule, not a guarantee that a future device sleep, source outage or storage failure can never interrupt recording.
Questions answered
Is Partly recorded the same as Missed?
No. Preserve the actual status and inspect Details. A failed start and a gap after recording began are different cases.
Does a dark television prove the player stayed able to record?
No. The screen and player can have different power and network states. Check the actual box’s standby behavior.
